A parable is an imaginary story used to teach people a moral lesson, for example, how to treat people in need. Jesus’ parables also taught people a spiritual lesson, often teaching them about the nature of God.
In some ways, stories help people to understand things better. But Jesus also said that parables made it harder for people to learn and that they would only understand it if God helped them.
